From what I understand FDDI-1 allows synchronous and asynchronous traffic
simultaneously.
Can someone explains us the main differences between the 2 traffic
types.
An application can utilize asynchronous traffic by accessing FDDI
at the MAC level but also using high level standard transport protocols
such as OSI/VOTS, DECNET transport, TCP/IP.
Can an application utilize these high level transport protocols for
synchronous transmission. Or is the application compelled to access
to MAC level for synchronous access?
In other words do we need specific protocols or are standard protocols
appropriate?
If a specific high level protocols are needed do we at DIGITAL have one?
Thanks for help.
Soumetty.

See note 234. I noticed there are no keywords, so I added keyword "SYNC". paul | |||||
