394.0. "VAX with FDDI and Ethernet cntlrs for redundancy
" by BOSNET::COLUMBUS () Fri Nov 15 1991 16:18
I have a customer who wants to use his VAX 6000 ethernet controller as a
backup path to his proposed FDDI-XMI controller. I have read the responses in
note 284, but I am still unclear on a few things:
* How would LAT and LAST (non-routable) traffic failover?
* Would the failover require manual intervention?
* Would each VAX truly have to assume the overhead of DECnet routing?
* Any known gotcha's?
This may be the wrong note file for this question. If so, where should I put
this note?
