189.0. "SNA over FDDI ?" by LFOIS1::MOUSSU (Laurent MOUSSU @LFO, Lille, FRANCE) Tue Dec 18 1990 15:48
    Hello, I'm a brand new consulting engineer at EIS, Lille, France.

    We have a customer evaluating the possibility to backbone various
    sub-LANS with either FDDI or 802.5. (He is a Blue customer too).
    It arises two questions:
    1) Assuming he buys the (best !...) FDDI solution, will the software
    DECnet/SNA products run through FDDI (e.g. 3270 Terminal Emulation)
    2) Assuming he prefers the other solution, will the same software
    products run through a 802.5/802.3 bridge.

    Clearly, some problems with the last assumption would really help us as
    to sell the other one (beside many other considerations: I got the
    tables comparing both technologies).

    Thanks for help.

    Laurent
