Has anyone out there encountered a purveyor of FDDI called FIBERMUX??? If so they offer a fully complient translating environment or are they one of the many vendors offering a system based on a proprietary encapsulation scheme? Also I'd like to know if they offer a IBM Token Ring to FDDI bridge (translating or encapsulating??). Any other G2 would be greatly appreciated TOM Great Lakes district DNT

Tom,
FIbermux offers what they call a "Native Framing approach to frame
conversion" in their bridges as opposed to encapsulation. I presume this
means they do translation. Their bridge claims to be fully compliant
with the ANSI spec. Their bridge can also function as an IP router. It
has 2 Ethernet attachments and 1 FDDI connection. It acts as an FDDI
Class A station (DAS). It can hold only 4000 entries in its filtering table
and is a learning bridge.
They also have an source-routing Token Ring bridge which is also an
FDDI Class A station. It conforms to IEEE 802.5 (4 Mbps) and uses the
TI TR chipset.
They also have management software.
This info is as of Jan. '90. Their headquarters are at 9310 Topanga
Canyon Blvd., Chatsworth, Ca. 91311
