3 sites, 1 serving as the hub, are located 4+ miles apart from
eachother. Assuming the installation of fiber, single and multimode,
between these sites, what can we do with products available today to
build a FDDI backbone connecting these sites?
Feedback on non-DEC products anyone has had experience with in similar
scenarios would be most welcome.

| 68.1 | FDDI node interconnection over a single mode fiber | BLGVS3::STRATOS | Thu May 24 1990 11:14 | 15 | |
This is a challenge we have successfully met for an important customer here in Italy. Actually it was presented to us in a much "heavier form" - LAN intercon- nection with interLAN distances in excess of 40 KMs - and we involved a third- party. I do not think third-parties should be receiving free ads over EASYNET, so I would appreciate if you could send me some mail (BLG01::STRATOS) with some more details. But the underlying technology - FDDI over single mode fiber - is available for quite some time. This was good news for us in Italy, Stratos | |||||
