On reading the Chipcom ONLINE System Concentrator brochure, it states that there will be FDDI interfaces "as modules become available" and implies Ethernet/FDDI and/or Token Ring/FDDI bridges will also be available. I am not sure how to position the Chipcom System Concentrator against the standard Digital FDDI Wiring Concentrator. Kevin H.

As far as I am aware from listening to Bruce Cohen of Chipcom the
online product will not compete with our DEcconcentrator, if he tells
the truth!
The major difference is that our WC will be a DAS with up to 8 x 100Mbs
ports for attachment to bridges/CPU adapters etc whereas the ONLINE box
will just have a set of bridge modules to allow it to be attached to
the FDDI network as a SAS. However, the tri-state bus in the online
product can be configured as 802.3/.5 or FDDI and therefore could
conceivably be used to form a WC type device.
Whatever the case, I hear that Chipcom will be a year behind DEC in the
release of FDDI products.
