After the <FF> is a note w/ directions to Maynard (edited to remove
    directions to PKO).

Once you are driving along Powdermill Rd in Maynard (it's labeled Rt 62
to the north and Rt 27 to the south of the intersection), turn east
(toward Boston) onto Waltham St at the Getty Gas Station. Continue for
0.5 mi, passing Mei Ling restaurant on your right, and on your left:
Winthrop Av, Waldon, Av, Wood Lane, 1st St, 2nd St, & 3rd St. Shortly
after 3rd St, there is a small road marked by a small orange sign about
20' off the ground on a telephone-like pole. Turn down this road, the
Old Mill Rd. About a minute further the road ends and you will come to
the Rod & Gun Club with a parking lot straight ahead and the club house
    to the right.
You can also approach the Old Mill Rd by heading west on Rt 117 and
turning right onto Waltham St at the fork with a modern church.
If I remember rightly, the meeting room is L-shaped and holds several
hundred people; I don't think there is a stage or sound system.
Scheduling the meeting for 3PM, isn't convenient for working people.
Perhaps it should be held in the evening like the special meeting was.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To:	PKO
From:	Canada, Maine, LOGAN, Lowell, New York
Updated: 17-MARCH-1988
These directions are an amalgam of various other notes (10.1, 27, 16, 30, etc)
and my own experience. They have not been drive-tested though I have
personally driven all of these routes at least once.
Fortunately Maynard has reconstructed its downtown area. There is now a one
way loop downtown and a new traffic light at the confusing snarl we used to
have (where merely 4 roads met but it was more bizarre than you can imagine:
only in Massachusetts).
From Maine/Canada/I-95/New Hampshire/Route 3:
1 Take I-95 or NH Route 3 south to Massachusetts. Rt3 is a cheap toll road.
   2 Continue with step 1 under Westford/Lowell...
From Westford or Lowell areas:
   1 Take I-495 south.
2 Take route 2 east toward Boston.
3 Take route 27 south (right at end of ramp) toward Maynard off route 2
	(approx 5 miles).
4 Maynard is approximately 5 more miles.
From the Massachusetts turnpike (New York/Conn):
1 Stay on the Turnpike to route 495.
   2 Take 495 north.
   3 You want exit 27, route 117
4 At the bottom of the ramp, turn left onto 117 heading east.
5 You will go several miles through Bolton and Stow. You will pass
the Stow facility (blink and you will miss the sign). Keep going
straight through on 117 when you get in Maynard. (If you turn left
at the light at the fork you head into the Mill and downtown).
6 At the intersection of route 27 is a light. Turn right.
From the airport, LOGAN:
1 Take a limo (a van) to Maynard. It costs about US$30. They know the
quick ways out of the city.
2 Take the DEC helicopter (make reservations in advance, no cost to CC
	unless you cancel)
3 Drive yourself crazy: Your rental car agency will have maps.
4 Your agency can get you to the Summer-Callahan tunnels, but sometimes
traffic is diverted. In case of diversion towards East Boston or
Chelsea, get off at the first exit and take the U-turnaround at the
bottom of the ramp to head back towards the tunnels. They do this
nonsense when they need the extra pavement to stack the cars waiting
	to enter the tunnel.
5 Go in the direction of Boston, through the tunnel (60US). Make sure
you get the right hand lane in the tunnel.
6 Out of the tunnel take a right. THERE ARE TWO RIGHTS POSSIBLE, be
sure to take the FIRST right out of the tunnel.
7 Then take a left UNDER the elevated highway, go up the ramp, and
you should be on the expressway going south.
8 A couple of exits further you take the Mass Turnpike WEST
(really no other choice since it starts there). The pike costs
a little (couple US$ in change is fastest).
9 Take RT495 North from the turnpike.
10 Continue with step 3 under NYC/Conn above.

| 529.6 | This annual meeting is very important | PLOUGH::KINZELMAN | Paul Kinzelman | Tue Apr 21 1992 08:13 | 19 |
| | Let me add my thanks to Chris's. Also let me remind folks that the annual
meeting is of *extreme* importance in affecting the future of *our* credit
union for a *long* time to come.
For those folks who were not at the special
meeting and didn't hear about it, the board furnished ample evidence of the
importance of being at the meeting in person. You will get to experience
*first hand* the level of integrity of the board and the level of impartiality
of the chairman or whoever runs the meeting.
At the special meeting, nobody
was able to rebut Mr. Cockburn's oppositions to issue #2 (removal
of the board immediately) because nobody in favor of the motion was able to
obtain the floor from the chairman. More than one person spoke in opposition
to the motion as I recall.
Remember also that when the doors opened at the official time,
a section of the room was already packed with DCU employees, all near the
only microphone available to members who wished to speak.

| 529.7 | No info before the annual meeting | PLOUGH::KINZELMAN | Paul Kinzelman | Tue Apr 21 1992 13:15 | 14 |
| | I just spoke with Mary Madden.
She claims that Mike Sacher of O'Rourke and Clark (the election auditors)
is the only person who will know the results of the election before they
are announced at the annual meeting. According to Mary, he was also
responsible for the voting process at the special meeting.
She also says that the annual report will be passed out on our way into
the annual meeting and not before. She says that the annual report has
never been released before other annual meetings either. Does anybody
know if this is true?
I wondered aloud if it is consistent with releasing the candidates statements
earlier than they are available to everybody else and "that's different".

| 529.8 | Question | SALEM::KUPTON | KEN IN ROUGH | Tue Apr 21 1992 14:08 | 13 |
| | I'd like to ask a question:

If there is a question as to the integrity of the ballot counting or as
to the results of the count, what is the recourse? Who would be
responsible for a recount? I'm assuming that there will be a very mixed
    response to the election.

If, for example, 5 RC candidates were elected and the margin of victory
only 30-40 votes, a NC candidate might call for election and get it
very quickly where the RC candidtaes might have a much more difficult
    time getting a recount.

| |
I believe the only recourse to address any questions regarding the
election results is to be at the annual meeting and make whatever
    motions you feel necessary.

As demonstrated by the special meeting, your presence does not
guarantee that your voice will be heard; but your absence guarantees
    that it will not.

| | At the other credit union I deal with (SSFCU) the annual report was out a month
before the annual meeting. There were stacks of them on the receptionist's
desk. Darned nice report from an aggressive FCU with some impressive
statistics (+26% in deposits, 0.6% loan delinquency, if I remember correctly).
They were proud of their added services (such as a complete mobile branch) and
better-than-most rates.
Phil has a copy, if people on the northern right coast want to see it.
