    It has been stated that DCU is currently searching for people to help
    in the areas of the Nominating Committee and Supervisory Committee.  I
    urge all people interested in helping make DCU a better place to step
    forward and volunteer for these positions if you have the time
    available.  I intend to offer my time and energy to DCU for either of
    the previous two committees.  I wish DCU had made the general
    membership more aware of these opportunities.  I'm sure they would have
    had many more very qualified volunteers.

	Would it be in order for members of DECU to send unsolicited endorsements of those interested in serving on these two committees to the BOD? Seems to me that there are a number of participants in this conference who would make strong contributions to our credit union, and many others of us who'd like to encourage the BoD to open up to the themes & ideas expressed by them here. If we know who are willing to serve, we might have the opportunity to support their candidacies. It is great to see Phil Gransewicz prepared to put himself on the line. I support the vision for DECU he has expressed here, and believe his tenacity and clear thinking would be an asset to our credit union. Jack Hutchinson

	I also received a reply. I am sincerely willing to help out on either committee. I still do not know what Mark is looking for in regards to qualifications, but have asked and am sure he will let me know. This is a start. - mark

	[from DCU Election Guidelines, Section I. B. composition of the nominating committee] "It is recommended that three members make up the nominating committee and none to be a potential candidate for election for the year in question. A nominating committee member should be highly motivated. Because the committee is small each member should be willing to attend every meeting and to become actively involved in the selection and coordination process. No SERVING board member should be appointed to the nominating committee. The liason may be useful to the nominating committee, but the views of a single oard member are too easilly interpreted as the views of the entire board. The nominating committee should meet with board members (not just one or two) as part of its operational plan. Further, the nominating committee should be aware that they have access to any board member (or any other resource, for that matter) during any part of the nominating process. The ideal nominating committee member should know a large number of DCU members. The more people the committee collectively knows, the more likely its slate will be outstanding. Nominating committee members should be: - impartial - fair - have awareness of how DCU functions - intelligent - have a "reasonable amount" of Digital seniority - good judgement (especially of people). The makeup of the whole committee is important. The committee should be broadly based -- so that the committee be as representative of the population as possible. GEOGRAPHICAL REPRESENTATION IS THE LEAST SIGNIFICANT CRITERION. WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT IS A BLENDING OF DISCIPLINES, LEVELS, AND POINT OF VIEW."
