I can see that they may not want to give this info over the phone (does
it have air? what about leather seats etc. etc.) Why don't you ask to
see a copy of their Blue Book. That's what I did, and they let
me make copies of the pages I was interested in.

| I went down and asked to see it, they told me if they would allow
one person to see it other people would want to see it also. I had
hoped to make a photo copy of it, or at least write the applicable
numbers down.
As far as I know they have two books, the blue book (NADA?) and another
that has new car information. I was hoping for the new car
information. This information is available through some magazines like
consumer reports. It would seem resonable that they would allow me to
see this information, especially if this information is being used to
determine if they are going to give me a loan or not.

| Spitbrook DCU allows members to borrow the book no hassle. Sounds like
training is needed so this can be universal.

| I dunno, I don't understand WHY THEY SHOULD. The book you want
costs $3.95 at a bookstore. it is the Edmon book on new car prices.
It list all the cars and options. This book and tactics on new
car buying are discussed in the consumer notesfile.
I don't think $3.95 is to much to pay considering the average price
for a new car is over $10,000. And you can take it with you.
I see the problem with consumer reports, it cost $10 and only talks
about the one model/options that you want.

| I wasn't aware that the book was sold at a bookstore. I will go look
at my local bookstore.

| Rob, I looked it up, its note 656 in the CONSUMER notesfile.
Two books are listed 1. EDMUNDS [I spelt wrong before] and
2. Consumer Guide for 19xx Price Guide. both books can be
bought for $5 or less. It might be also valuable to look at
656 for other tips re new car buying.
The 'blue book' used to determine *used* cars prices is very high
cost. I've never had a problem in MKO DCU in borrowing to look
at.
the difference I can see is you will use the blue book once, while
you may go to several dealerships and want the other book in hand.

| Most good public libraries carry these guides -- doesn't cost a dime.
