30.0. "About this IRA contribution you THINK you made...." by ALIEN::MELVIN (10 zero, 11 zero zero by zero 2) Sat May 30 1987 21:23
I did not see this elsewhere in the conference, so here it is:
Before 15-Apr-1987, I made a cash contribution to my IRA account
for the 1986 tax year. I recently received my 'receipt' of that
transaction, (I do not know the IRS form #, but it is the one
that gets sent out to report the contribution). It appears that
my cash contribution (which is deductible) was reported on the
form as a 'rollover' (which is NOT!). It seems that what DCU
told the IRS and what my tax form says now is different. From
talking with several other DCU members, I find that this has
happened to several others as well. All transactions were thru
the Spitbrook DCU. I mentioned this 'problem' to them and was
told "well, it was probably in the system incorrectly but was
reported to the IRS correctly". Unfortunately, the form I have
say COPY B, which presumes COPY A went to the IRS. I doubt the
number changed between printing of the forms; they will be
looking into it.
I strongly suggest that anyone else getting such a receipt check
it out for the same problem.

| | Interesting.
I made my 1986 contribution way back in January of 1986, but the form I
received was the same: rollover.
Thank you, DCU.
