I will be in the Mass area and would like to purcahse replacement

I had to take my lifelines to pieces yesterday to shorten them, I had
to cut about 3 inches off each. The swage fitting is one of those
compression fittings with a cone in the fitting. The cones are bronze
perhaps and seem to have oxidized to the point thatI cannot re-open
them, they just crack.
I am thinking of making a temporary fix with a piece of copper, has
anyone done this or does anyone know a good source for the real cones
so that I can make my temporary fix temporary ?

I tried to do some stuff with copper but got not too far.
I then got an electrical compression terminal and pressed that onto the
core of the wire with the outer wires around it (it got a little
messy!) ... I then put everything back and applied pressure.
I took the fitting apart to see what had happened and the compression
fitting had slid down the wire to the end .... next time I took one of
the core wires and bent it back up the wire to sort of hook around the
terminal. This also added to the diameter of the terminal and helped
jam in the female fitting. When I put everything back I stressed it
quite a bit by tightening up the turnbuckle and there was no movement.
I then backed off the turnbuckle.
It seems to have worked at least for the while .... now I need the real
cones. I know that there is something of a risk but taut lifelines are
of value as well.
