| | Ed,
ELF shows you working in Hudson so I'm going to suggest you might want to
consider taking your boat to Larry Simonds in Southbridge. He runs a
sailboat/sailboard business out of his home (large home) and he does the best
fiberglass work I've ever seen. From my experiences with him, his specialty
seems to be difficult repair jobs on small sailboats. It has been a few years
since I've seen Larry (I moved to NH from Shrewsbury three years ago); but I
list his phone number as 617-764-2010 and address as Dennison Drive. You
definitely should call him before visiting.
I have a little experience with the type of problem you have. To do a proper
repair job on the centerboard casing you may have to add inspection ports to
the boat, if you don't already have them. They're a good idea to have
anyway because they help you dry the inside of the boat; but you do have to be
concerned about whether class rules govern their number and placement. I might
also note that you can buy inspection ports with attached small storage bags.
These are very useful for secure storage of keys.
Don't be put off by the fact that Larry works out of his home. He has
extensive experience building and repairing fiberglass boats. Other dealers
have been known to bring their difficult problems to him.
