My customer is configuring their dtsd as a local server. During
the dcestartup, the process crashes. We tried this on two different
servers with different results, however both did fail. Any ideas on
what is wrong? What files do I need to collect from their system
to troubleshoot?
I did search this notes file and the manuals for the errors,
however the search failed and the docs do not touch on error
numbers (at least the set I have).

I attempted to add dtsd as a local server on two systems
and ran into the following errors. I have both
listed seperatly, because the error was alittle different on both.
The version of dtsd that we're attempting to configure with is
385024 Dec 12 15:02 dtsd. I believe this is the version that contains
the changes from when we were working on this problem in december.
Please correct me if we need to using another version.
First system:
dcesetup was run, the options from the menu selected:
Option 1 configure
Option 5 Modify dce cell configuration
Option 3 add dtsd as local server
The following ran from the dcesetup script
stopping sec_client service
starting sec_client service
/usr/sbin/dcesetup 20510 Abort: A memory image file is created as core
starting dts daemon
ERROR in dce_check_daemon for dtsd
DCE configuration is not complete.
I then edited dce_services.db removing entry for dts clert, performed
a stop and start and now we're back to the original setup.
Second system:
dcesetup was run, the options from the menu selected:
Option 1 configure
Option 5 Modify dce cell configuration
Option 3 add dtsd as local server
The following ran from the dcesetup script
stopping sec_client service
starting sec_client service
starting dtsd service
DECThreads last chance handler: thread exiting on status exception
0x177db005. Invalid memory address (dce/thd)
/usr/sbin/dcesetup 5509 Abort: A memory image file is created as "core".
error in dce_check_daemon for dtsd
Any input that you have will be appreciated.

John, what kind of platform are you using ? What version ? NT ? UNIX VMS ? I'm wondering if your problem is related to my entry in 2138 What happens to the dtsd if you restart dce after the boot sequence ? /Marco

It sounds like a Digital UNIX box. Can you also post the contents of /opt/dcelocal/dcesetup.log? There might be additional information there. Also, check for *.log files under /opt/dcelocal, particulary dtsd.log, if there is one. Are you running any other applications on this box? Are there multiple network interfaces? Have you configured a Memory Channel interface? Thanks, Laura
