    Okay, it may not be a "consumer" product, but the morning paper ran an
    article about hawks/eagles that nest in the Springfield MA area.  In
    the article, they mention a solar powered video camera that the local
    cable company used to put these fowls on the public access channel.
    
    Are these things useful for anything else?  Too costly, perhaps?

I'm sure the CAMERA isn't anything special. They probably just hooked up an
ordinary video camera battery to a solar powered battery charger. "Solar powered
camera" sure does SOUND exotic and environmentally friendly though...
