| | Any advice of a good place in the Acton/Boxborough/Maynard... area to
get a NEC 20" t.v. repaired? I think we experienced a voltage spike
and it messed up a few things(time to install a voltage protector).

Anyway, the problem is that the sound goes in and out until it warms up
for about 15-20 minutes. Sometimes a tap on the side will get it to
work... but then continues to go in and out.

Any repair shops that anybody can recommend?

    thanks

    John

If it has a headphone jack, insert and remove a headphone
plug a few times... It might just have crud in the
contacts that switch off the speakers when a plug is
	inserted.
If no headphone jack (or the above procedure does not help),
open up the TV (unplugged, of course). [Steer clear of the
big (usualy red) wire that goes to one of the sides of
the picture tube (usualy top or right side). It provides
a high voltage that may be present long after the TV had
been unplugged.] Wiggle the plugs on whatever wires and
	cables have plugs.
With luck you can save the cost of having someone do
	that for you.

| | Thanks John.

Headphone jack... I think it has one, but it's never been used so there
could be crud in it. That'd be a great fix.

I had taken the tv apart, but it was difficult to get to everything
since it didn't open up nicely/fully. If the first thing doesn't
work.. maybe I'll try opening it again.

Yes,.. it would be nice to save the $$ for a simple wiggle.
