1) Some readers of this conference, who don't subscribe to

2) If someone is considering whether to respond here, the following
will establish a baseline for that response.

Randers is a beautiful small town at the bottom of Randers fjord on the
east coast of Jutland. There are lots of places of interest in the
vicinity and in the town itself.
There is no airport, the closest you can get is to Aarhus, about 40
miles from Randers. The car trip from Copenhagen isn't to bad either -
less than 200 miles, the ferry trip is 45 min. and VERY calm.
Late may and early june is the best time of year in Denmark - ALWAYS
bring raingear when going to Denmark :-(.
There are a couple of good museum in Randers, also be sure to visit the
Old Town Museum (Gamle By) in Aarhus and Hjerl Hede Stone Age Village.

The Tirstrup Airport serves both Aarhus and Randers, with shuttle
busses connecting to all flights to both Randers and Aarhus.

Unpredictable, it is often very beautiful at this time, as I know since
I've often been trying to study for exams in this period. But you can
also get snow a good way into May ! In Denmark rain is also a
possibility, but it is rarely heavy.
There is the remains of a viking castle close by (I can't remember the
name, though). In Aarhus (35 miles south of Randers) you'll find
several interesting sights, like The Old Town (a reconstructed town of
old houses) and Moesgaard (archeological museum).

| I just spoke with my Danish friend and she suggested Town Hall for
more info. on your grandfathers birthplace etc. If you have the
Christening certificate it should say which church he was baptized in,
if there is more than one in Randers. Have fun. I am sure you'll
find some small "vardshus" instead of the Holiday Inn type.
