| Just a few comments about the Squatter blockade:
This end to the blockade was totally unexpected as the squatters
on the barricades were armed with Molotov-cocktails (petrol bombs)
and there have been very violent encounters between them and the
police.
The squatters are called BZ which pronounced in Danish this sounds just
like "bes{t" meaning occupy. They have been active for a couple
of years now and similar, however not so serious situations, have
occurred.
Before they left the barricades they put up helmets and puppets
to make it look like they were still there. The police didn't notice
they had left untill next morning.
In another case the police used a hydraulic lift to break through
a 3rd floor wall, but when they entered the BZ had left through
a tunnel they had digged under the street.
Real violent confrontations are fortunately very uncommon in Denmark.

Offices of West German Company, News Agency Attacked
COPENHGEN, Denmark (AP) - Attackers hurled acid-filled bottles at the
office of a West German news agency and firebombed a building housing a
West German company Wednesday, police said. There were no reports of
injuries. The attacks came a day after youths vandalized the German
Cultural Institute in Copenhagen. There was no claim of responsibility.
Police said assailants smashed office windows of the DPA news agency
and hurled rocks and bottles with hydrochloric acid through the glass.
Assailants also threw a fire bomb at an exhibition building of the AEG
company where household appliances were stored. Police said the
building burned down.
An anonymous caller told a Danish news agency that "as a revenge for
what happened in Hafenstrasse, we have thrown a terror fire bomb
against the German company AEG in Albertslund," police said.
Hafenstrasse is a street in Hamburg, West Germany. The caller
apparently referred to the eviction Tuesday of 13 tenants in Hamburg
for failure to pay rent. The apartments are owned by the city housing
authority. Police said the assailants sprayed the words "Revenge on
Hafenstrasse" on the AEG building.
Police raised the possibility that the attackers had links to the
Copenhagen squatter movement which consists of a few hundred mainly
young people. In the past four years, the squatters have occupied
various condemned buildings in Copenhagen.

Squatters, Police Clash after House Is Occupied
COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) - Police clashed with 200 to 300 squatters who
were armed with slingshots and rocks after the squatters occupied an
abandoned building and burned down a nearby police station Saturday,
authorities said.
The squatters barricaded a residential street and occupied a former
shoe factory in the eastern part of the city, saying they wanted to
live there and turn it into a youth center. The police station was
burned, and the only officer present escaped. A couple in an adjacent
apartment were evacuated. Police stormed the factory building and
arrested 17 activists. About 20 police officers were sent to a hospital
with minor injuries.
In September, hundereds of squatters armed with iron pipes,
hydrochloric acid and paving stones sealed off one block for nine days.
