    I agree that in a conference on languages, it makes sense to include
    a catalog the options.  If language supporters could spare the time, 
    and would briefly market their wares, rather than leave us to search
    elsewhere, it would help us novices.
    
    Note 217.* "Abstract, Kit, Notes Conference", one screen for each
    language, is a possible start.

|  |     The less than overwhelming response to note 217 is a good indication
    that this idea won't work.  Language developers can't spare the time,
    don't always read this conference, and are employed as engineers, not
    marketeers.  They do a good job of answering questions from the field
    on specific issues, but can't be expected to support this sort of
    higher-level request.
    
    In the past, the DEC sales force has had a VAX Software Manual, that
    listed all the available software.  Does this still exist, or has the
    increase in available software made it too unwieldly to be useful?  
    
    Otherwise, the VTX database for VAX software SPD's is organized by
    application category.  One of the categories is Languages, which should
    be sufficient to answer the question in .0 without too much work.
