1218.0. "Logical unit limit on VAX??" by KERNEL::PULLEY (Come! while living waters flow) Wed Mar 12 1997 06:22
    Hi,

    I've a customer using Fortran 77 v6.0-1--I've told them there's some
nice new shiny ones to upgrade to.

    What the query is:-
Is there a higher limit on the number of logical units you can use on
    the VAX?
I've checked in manuals I have to hand, the user's manual section
4.1.1, which for the Alpha's is dated 1992 and says the limit is
however many you can get in 4 byte int.
For the VAX, (dated 1993), it says 119 logical units, 20 of which are
    for the library routines.

    Thanks for comments,
    Steve.

| | This limit has not changed on VAX, and is not likely to do so.
There are actually 120 units available - unit 0 is valid.
