| | I think stews and cassroles work best, but leave out the veggies, as
they tend to get too soft when they are frozen.

Before I went in for surgery about 10 years ago, I bought a microwave
and cooked big batches of stews -- chicken, beef, etc. Since I lived
alone then, it was important for me to have things I could heat up
quickly. Then, all I had to do was make rice, or boil water for
pasta, which I did while the stew was defrosting.

Also, since you have another few people in, and it will be summer, you
can encourage your husband and daughter to bbq!

| | I would say off the top of my head that most meals in my freezer
consist of Chili and Spaggetti Sauce. You can buy some really good
fresh pastas and then just add your own sauce and have a wonderful
meal. Chili.. well you might want to avoid it after your surgery
depending on what type of surgery you are having. Might want to check
into that because any type of acidic food and spicy food could upset
    your tummy more than usual.

As the previous noter mentioned, bbq time has approached. You can cut
up some various portions of steak, pork and chicken and freeze it in a
ziploc bad with a marinade. Take it out and let it defrost on its own
and its marinating at the same time!

    Good luck on your surgery!
