| | There's a diet in the Weight_control notes file, called the Dave
Maynard diet, which sounds like what you mentioned. Here's the soup
recipe listed for the diet. there are two versions of the soup
mentioned in the note, with no explanation on the differences.

FYI - in the other notes file, the voting was definately mixed as to
whether someone liked the soup or not. I made it and liked it, but my
husband couldn't stand the smell of cooking cabbage and wouldn't touch
the stuff. Also, depending on the veggies used, the soup can take on a
grey color - not too appetizing.

| | Thanks Janet, but I don't those are it. It had V8 Vegetable Juice in
it, I think it was the 32 Oz size. I'm not wild about cabbage cooking
    either, but this was good.

If I recall correctly the recipe was called the "Million Dollar Diet"
    or some such thing.

    Thanks again

     Dennis,
Got this from my brother-in-law; might be what you're looking for. I've
     included the whole plan.
     Basic Fat Burning Soup
     6 large green onions
     2 large green peppers
     2 cans chopped tomatoes
     1 large head of cabbage
1 package Lipton Onion Soup mix
                   season as desired
Cut vegetables into small to medium pieces, put in large pot
Cover with water (or tomato/V8 juice)
        Bring to a boil
        Hard boil for 10 minutes
Lower to simmer and continue cooking until tender
This can be eaten any time you're hungry. Eat as much as you want,
whenever you want, anytime of the day. This soup will not add
calories. The more you eat, the more you lose. If eaten alone for
indefinite periods of time it would cause malnutrition.
     In addition to your soup:
DAY 1: All fruits except bananas. You can have as much as you like.
Cantaloupes and watermelon are lower in calories than most fruits.
DAY 2: All vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed with all fresh, raw
or cooked vegetables of your choice. Try to eat leafy vegetables
and stay away from beans, peas and corn. At dinner time, reward
yourself with a baked potato and butter.
     DAY 3: Fruits and vegetables.
DAY 4: Eat as many as eight (8) bananas and as much skim milk as you
want this day along with the soup. Bananas are high in calories
and carbohydrates and so is milk, but on this particular day of
your diet, you body will need the potassium, carbohydrates,
protein and calcium to lessen your cravings for sweets.
(can replace beef with broiled or baked chicken for day 5 or 6)
DAY 5: Eat as much as ten 10 ounce portions of beef and six tomatoes
(or a can of tomatoes). Try to drink at least six 8 ounce glasses
of water to wash the uric acid from your body.
DAY 6: Beef and vegetables this day. Eat to your hearts content.
You can even have two or three steaks if you like with green
leafy vegetables, but no baked potato.
DAY 7: Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables.
DEFINITE NO-NOs: bread, alcohol, carbonated beverages, fried foods
You may drink water, unsweetened tea, black coffee, unsweetened fruit
juice, cranberry juice and skim milk (on day allowed)
The soup can be eaten at anytime when you feel hungry. Eat as much as
you like as often as you like.
At the end of seven days, if you have not cheated on the above diet, you
will find that you have lost 10-17 pounds. If you have lost more than
15 pounds, stay off the diet for at least two days.
This diet is a fast, fat-burning plan and the secret is that you will
burn more calories than you take in. This diet does not lend itself to
drinking any alcholic beverages because of the removal of fat build-up
in your system. Go off the diet at least 24 hours before any intake of
     alcohol.
Because everyone's digestive system is different, this diet will affect
everyone differently. After day three you will have more energy than
when you began. After several days, your bowel movements may change. If
necessary, eat a cup of bran or fiber. Although you can have black coffee
while on the diet, you may find your need for caffine deminished after
     day three.
Any prescribed medication will not hurt you on this diet. Continue
on this plan as long as you wish and feel the difference in your mental
     and physical disposition.
