|  |     as I recall Hungarian paprika is spicier than the regular one
    we all see at the supermarket. We get ours at one of those "bin"
    stores -- they are more likely to have a wider variety of spices
    at MUCH better prices -- the only setback is that in some cases if
    the spice has been sitting in the bin for a long time it might loose
    some of its flavour. (I just use more of it in that case!)

|  |     The Frug did Hungarian on Sunday, October 20th.  Kinda interesting
    since I had never attempted any of it before.
    
    It will probably be on later this week again.  He said this was one of

|  | The difference between Hungarian paprika and "regular" paprika is that the
former is imported from Hungary and the later is domestic.  There are two
Hungarian paprikas for sale in New England under the "Szeged" (or something
like that) label:  a "regular" paprika and a "hot" paprika.  So Hungarian
paprika can be either mild or hot.

|  |     Hungarian paprika has a much stronger flavor than the domestic paprika,
    there really is no comparison between them.  If you have never used
    Hungarian paprika, try it.  I us it frequently in my cooking.  As 
    indicated by .6 Hungarian paprika comes in both mild and hot.  
    
    Paprika is also very high in vitamin C.

|  |     The mild Hungarian paprika is called "Sweet Rose" and the other is
    "Hot" - and it is HOT!!!  There is no resemblance between either of
    them and what you find in the supermarket spice section, which is, in
    my opinion, little more than a food coloring.
    
    The source I've always used for Hungarian paprika is Paprika Weiss in
    NYC.

    I was never really sure if there was a difference between the two.
    I have made a couple of different recipes fairly recently that have
    called for hungarian paprika. I couldn't locate the stuff at my local
    grocer but I did find spanish paprika. has anyone heard of it and do
    you think that the taste resembles hungarian paprika? I did'nt taste
    it by itself, I only tasted it in the dishes that I made so I really 
    couldn't distinguish the taste.
