| | I used to make an excellent hot buttered rum ... I mixed butter,
vanilla ice cream, sugar, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg together, and kept
it in the freezer. I would use an ice cream scoop of the mixture
with rum and hot water... it was great for parties. I can't
remember the exact proportions but I imagine you could have great
    fun experimenting %-}...

| | HBR batter to keep in the fridge for emergencies...courtesy of my mother who
still occasionally has such "emergencies" during the cold season...8^}
Soften 1 pound of butter....beat in enough dark brown sugar to make
the whole mixture look like gingerbread dough (her instructions -
I use approx. 1 and a little more boxes of dark brown sugar)
	using a mixer.
Add 4 heaping Tablespoons ground cinnamon and 2 scant teaspoons
ground nutmeg (to taste on both of these, of course, more or less
as you desire - I also add a dash of ginger). Mix well. Scoop
mixture out into a container, cover to seal and store in the
refrigerator. It keeps indefinitely with all the sugar.
	TO USE:
scoop a tablespoon of HBR batter into a mug, pour in a double
shot of good rum, and fill with HOT water. Stir well and sip
	in front of warm fire.
WARNING: This stuff is lethal and tasty - a dangerous combination
	for any concoction.

            My recipe for:

                            Christmas Buttered Rum

                    2 cups butter, softened
                    1 cup packed brown sugar
                    1 cup sifted powdered sugar
                    2 tsp nutmeg
                    2 tsp cinnamon
                    2 pints vanilla ice cream
                    rum
                    boiling water

Cream together butter, brown sugar, powdered sugar,
nutmeg, and cinnamon with electric mixer. Blend in
softened ice cream. Turn into an 8 cup freezer
container. Seal and freeze (mixture will not freeze
            solid).

To serve, spoon 2-4 tablespoons ice cream mixture into
each mug. Add 3 Tablespoons rum and 1/2 cup boiling
water to each mug. Stir well. Garnish with a cinnamon
            stick, if desired.

            Enjoy!!! Lila
