    I've found both in standard grocery stores, like Demoulas.  Usually in
    with the Ethnic foods.  If that fails, look for an oreintal grocer in
    the yellow pages.  And, if that fails, too, try Joyce Chen in Acton on
    rt 2a, or Concord Spice and Grain in Concord, across from the T stop on
    Thoreau St.

    There's a health food store in Westboro called Simple Enough
    Natural Foods that has Tamari and most likely Tahini as well.
    According to the phone book, the number is 366-7037 and the 
    address is listed as Rte 9 Westboro.  I get flyers from them
    all the time and I'm certain I've seen both items advertised.
    
    Tahini is relatively easy to find and you should be able to get
    it at the Stop and Shop near BJ's.  It comes in a can usually 
    and looks similar to a can of peanuts but only about 2/3 the height.
    
    If you don't mind a trip to Worcester, the Living Earth at the corner
    of Chandler St & Park Ave has these items.

    Also, you can get Tahini at the new Shaws in Hudson.  Don't know
    about Tamari, tho...

  I've found that any brand of soy sauce will substitute reasonably well
  (to my taste) for tamari.

  Tahini, which is a spread made from (I think) ground sunflower seeds,
  can sometimes be substituted by hummus, which is made from ground
  chick peas. But this won't work in all recipes, since hummus also has
  other strong flavors, such as garlic.

  I'd be surprised if you couldn't find both in almost any supermarket
  in Marlboro/Westboro.

    Tahini is not ground sunflower seeds, it's made from sesame seeds.
    Hummus is made by mixing chick peas and tahini with lemon juice, garlic
    and cumin (optional)

So what's made from ground sunflower seeds? :-)

    Julio's markets also carries Tahini.    Look at the area where they
    carry the gourmet jams, dressings, crackers etc.  I saw it there 
    last week in the Northboro store.  White and orange can.

    If all else fails, try Rose Lee's on the south side of Route 9 in
    Westborough between Route 135 and Lyman Street.  They have a small
    grocery area that has lots of items you won't find other places.

    Ohhhhh, now you've got me wanting to make homemade hommous - like I
    used to many years ago!  Anyway, Tahini can also be found at a great
    middle eastern market on the corner of Park Ave. & Chandler St. in
    Worcester.  Lots of other good middle eastern delights there, too!
    
    Hmmm, maybe I'll go by there tomorrow to get the indredients for fresh
    home made hommous!

	I used to buy tahini sauce and "raw" tahini from "George's"
	Greek Delicatessen in Liverpool. You should be able to find it
	in any Greek-Cypriot delicatessen or they should be able to
	direct you to a source.

    I'm pretty sure I've bought some at some time from the County Deli 
    in St.Mary Butts, Reading.

	Also, you could try a chinese supermarket or supplier. They sell
	sesame seed paste (usually with a little soy bean oil which shouldn't
	affect things too much).

    I found a tin of Near East brand Tahini in my supermarket, but there is
    no label listing the calories and fat content.  Any ideas?

        A quick check with my recipe program yields:
    
    For 1 ounce of Tahini (~2 Tablespoons)
    
    	168 	calories
    	 14.4   grams Total fat (2g saturated, 5.4 mono, 6.3 poly)
    
         72.5% fat by weight

	But then...

	Tahini sauce dip:

	Equal measures of Tahini and water whipped together with a fork.
	Add lemon juice, crushed garlic and salt to personal taste.
	(I've found that one clove of garlic/two tablespoons of juice
	to four heaped tbsps of tahini works for me)

	Fresh baked crispy bread rolls or pita bread, fresh grilled
	kebabs or pork/lamb chops, grilled Italian/Greek sausages,
	etc.... 

	To die for... with a bottle or two of Retsina... especially
	sitting in a taverna on a warm evening...

    Large jars of Tahini spotted is Safeway's Bracknell. The were snuggling
    next to the cans of stuff vine leaves.
    
    Visited this store for the first time in 2 years. My wife wanted
    Bisquick and was a tad fed up of paying �2.00 a box from the Deli in St
    Mary's/Butt street. It was �1.24 from Safeway.
    
    This bodes ill for me. In about a month's time a Safeway superstore,
    which seems larger than the Bracknell branch, opens within walking
    distance of Deathpark. I think my wallet is in danger.
