I am looking for a recipe for Shrimp Tempura. I had the shrimp tempura
at a Japenese restaurant in Maynard and it was great. I'm wondering if
anyone out there knows how to make the batter, how long you cook it
etc.. The restaurant also served it with a sauce that wasn't as heavy
as a soy sauce, any ideas on what this might be also?
Thanks a bunch,
Karen

Hi,
We do alot at our house. You can buy a box mix for the batter, and the
sauce is called Bull Sauce. "Golden Dipt" brande name Tempura Batter
Mix. Bull-Bulldog Vegtable and Fruit Sauce (Burlin IGA is where I
have found this). You only need to cook until shrimp turns pink.
Enjoy!!!

mix 1 cup of ice cold water with 1 egg, 1/4 tsp. salt, 1/4 tsp of
baking soda, and 1 cup of cake flour.
just before you are ready to fry, sprinkle 1/3 cup of cake flour
over the top of the batter and blend just enough to mix slightly.
Batter will be lumpy.
keep the bowl of batter in a larger bowl half filled with ice to
keep the batter very cold while dipping your shrimp or vegtables.
I used this with zucchini and mushrooms and it was very good.
