| | My mom fries them in a little margarine, just like you would with hot
dogs or else BBQ's them on the grill. They eat 'em with sauerkraut and
    potato pancakes.

    Good luck!

| | Uns ist gut mit German potato salad, too.

Really they are no more than fat hot dogs. Cook like hot
dogs or kielbasa. If you want to make it special, serve with German
type things: sauerkraut, German Potato Salad -- there must be a recipe
for that in here somewhere or you can buy a pint or two of in in most
supermarket delis. Some kind of German mustard is good though most
will do. Steam with the sauerkraut to get the flavor boiled in.

Serve with a few steins of German Bier, decorate the house with
some blue and white checkered flags and play accordian music and
    King Ludwig might visit.

| | I can give you the basics of the potato pancake recipe. It's simply
shredded potatoes and onions (use a food processor). Salt and pepper
that mixture (it will get juicy from the shredded potato), scoop it out
by spoonfuls and fry in a little vegetable oil. You'll have to flatten
out the spoonfuls a little, but the pancakes should be about 1/4""
thick and 3 inches in diameter.

I'll check with mom tonight and to see if there's more to it than
    this........

    salty.

| | Maybe you could boil them and then grill them. The boiling would
get most of the salt out, especially if you split them before
boiling. Easier to cut them when they're cold, anyhow, so you
won't burn your hands on hot boiled sausages!
