| | I don't have an exact recipe for the sauce mix - it comes out a
little different every time. One thing I like to do, though is...

Cut a French or Italian loaf of bread lengthwise, then cut into
5-6" sections. Broil these a bit until toasted. Top with sloppy
joe mix and shredded Cheddar cheese; broil till cheese melts.

    Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!

| | You can check Joy of Cooking for the exact recipe, but a reasonable
    facsimile is:

    Ground Meat
    Chopped onion
    Chopped green pepper

Cook above until meat is cooked. Add Chile Sauce (like Heinz, similar
to cocktail sauce) until mixture is desired consistency. Heat through.

    Notes: Add sliced mushrooms too
Works well with ground turkey as well as beef

| | I just brown ground beef and onions, drain, add salt, pepper and
a lot of ketchup and simmer a few minutes. Serve on buns.

| | I like this one cause it's a bit spicy and has a nice bite from
    the vinegar.

To 1 lb cooked, drained ground beef add:
    	1/8 cup vinegar
    	2 tlb. sugar
    	1 tsp. salt
    	1/2 tsp. pepper
1 small or medium onion, diced
    	2 tsp. spicy mustard
    	1 tbl. lemon juice

    Boil together, then add:
    	1/2 small bottle catsup
    	1 tbl. worchestershire sauce

Bring back to a boil and then simmer.

| | Mmm, I'll have to try the vinegar one - that sounds good!

I start with ground beef, brown and drain. Add chopped onion, chopped
garlic and Worchestershire sauce - about 3 circles around the skillet.
Add a lump (probably 1-2 tablespoons) of brown sugar. Add one can
of tomato sauce, rinse the can with water and add that (about a
third of a can). Add assorted seasonings like oregano, basil, pepper,
and a couple shakes of red pepper flakes. Simmer and enjoy. The
midwestern way to east Joe's is to put a spoonful of cole slaw on
top of the Joes on the bun. Me, I prefer cheese, or grill the buns
first. If you use large buns, scoop some of the inside out first
    to make more room!

| | Tried this last night and my kids actually ate and liked it. Not bad
for an easy dinner. Recipe is on the Campbell's New Italian Tomato
Soup. Total time from start to getting it on the table -- 15 minutes.

In skillet, cook 1 pound ground beef until brown. Spoon off fat. Add
one can (11 1/8 oz) Campbells' New Italian Tomato Soup, 1/4 cup water, 2
teaspoons Worcestershire sauce, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Heat through
    stirring often.

Serve on sesame hamburger buns, split and toasted. Says it serves six.
But they would have to be small eaters to get 6 out of this.
