    Hi,

Whenever I read a recipe on making liquer, it states to put in
    sterilized bottles and cap well.

I have never done this before, but would like to. What kind of
bottles are you talking about? Can I buy them as I would like to
make some bottles up for gifts. How do I know they are sealed good
    enough?

    Thanks
    pat

My husband makes his own beer (see more about this in the HOMEBREW
notes file) and uses 3 things when bottling: empty bar bottles
(non-screwtop), B-Brite, and a bottle capper. The last two
things he bought at a Beer and Wine hobby store, which he found
by looking in the phone book. B-Brite sterilizes the bottles,
then it's just pour and cap. Oh, he also buys flat caps from
    the store, too.

| I made some liqueur's for presents this past Christmas and found
the recipes in this notes file. The results were enjoyed by all.
If you do a DIR you'll be able to find them easily.

I bought wine size bottles at a Beer and Wine supplies store on
Route 9 in Framingham. Something like 10.95 for a case of 12.
They have lots of supplies and also ideas for future brewing projects.

For sterilization, I just boiled the bottles and caps and poured the
already boiled (but cooled) liquids into them.

    Hope this helps.

| And so on.......

About sealing: The bottles I bought had screw on tops that sealed
tight enough for my needs. I suppose if you were to make beer you
would want to use something tighter, but since there is no fermentation
process for liqueur's these bottles were fine.

Some of the recipes I used are listed in the following notes in
    this conference: 327, 444, 798, 802.

    Have fun!
