    The Salzburg goalie was hit by a bottle thrown by a Milan "supporter".
    I think Salzburg are going to appeal but Milan say that as the goalie
    didn't go off immediately there are no grounds for a complaint. I'd say
    that it *just* *might* be a touch off-putting though.

It has been a scandalous match - sorry for both teams, they played very
fair !!
 
Or: Why must a silly rowdy destroy a good match after 40 minutes.

Till the 40th minute the match had been a good match.

What has happened after this:

We had own cameras from the Austrian TV (one near the goal):
Standing 0:0, a water bottle was thrown near Konrad, 3-5 sec. later Milan
shot the 1:0 - We cannot prove, that he has been disturbed from this -
I'll say: o.k. 1:0 for Milan.

But 10 seconds later: two other bottles have been thrown , Konrad was hit by 
a bottle on his neck and he break down.
The hit of the bottle has been seen on TV and from the referee !

Konrad played after the pause against the will of his doctor, but after the
next defense he has shown a false reaction (not Konrad's well known) - 2:0 .

He has not been able to finish the game and the 2nd goali Illsanker has to play
his first match since 4 years.- 4 minutes later he did not react - 3:0.

Salzburg had been such well as Milan till the 40th minute. in the 2nd half
the played under a great shock.

I think, Milan would win the game without this event 1:0, but the scandal
has been after this event:

The Milan officials denied any help for Konrad for more than 30 minutes
(The hospital is 10 minutes near the Stade), 
after this time the rescue has brought the unconscious Konrad to the hospital.

AC Milan Capello after the game:"...I have not expected such a theatre from
an Austrian team after the bottle event..." !!!

Don't wonder if any rowdies will do this again, for the coach of AC Milan it
has not been condemned.

Sorry for Milan: Gullit and Desailly have played great.

I don't think that will be a 3:0 for Salzburg, because the officials of MILAN
are to mighty in sport and in politics.
The UEFA will demand much money for their cash - and this will be the result.

Righteous will be a new match in a neutral stadium,such as Udine .

    I remember that one well. A Rapid player claimed he had been hit by a
    bottle, and was photographed in the newspaper the next day with a
    bandage around his head that made him look like a Sikh.
    TV evidence proved that the bottle missed hiim by about 7-8 feet.
    The case was thrown out & both clubs heavily fined. Rapid then decided
    to appeal against the decision, and changed their story, saying that
    it was a coin that hit their player. UEFA in their ultimate wisdom
    increased Rapid's fine, but made both sides replay the tie at Old 
    Trafford. The Bhoys ultimately lost !

The event with Rapid was not such as this one in Milan. I know the the player
Rudolf Weinhofer was hit by an coin such as the one penny coin and the history
with his bandage has been not correct !! - this has been theater.

In the replay there have been bigger problems with Celtic fans, one of them
attacking a Rapid player during (!) the match.

But if anybody - who has seen the Milan - Salzburg match on TV -will say, that
the bottle yesterday has not hit Konrad, - sorry,he must be blind.

No, tragedly the bottle has hit full Konrad - he is today in the hospital in
Milan, and the doctot of AC Milan Rudolfo Tavango has confirmed the bad
injure of Otto Konrad.

Please, I don't agree with the events after the coin-hit with Rapid, but
be so fair, to condemn such a silly doing like a bottle hit at sportsmen.

Such silly spectators dont know, what they are doing with the sport football.

    	if what you say is true then UEFA have no choice than to ban
    further games in Milan, make them replay this game, as you say, in a
    neutral stadium and fine Milan very heavily. This sort of behaviour
    cannot be tolerated. English clubs suffered in the eighties because of
    a minority of their "fans" but its clear that there is still a hooligan
    problem, allbeit somewhat better controlled. For the good of the game
    we have to completely irradicate these acts of violence.
    	If Konrad really was taken to hospital with concussion / unconcious
    then UEFA must act quickly. Hope the player makes a full recovery in
    time for the rematch.

    the keeper. If not, the episode of the Chilean keeper who faked being
    hit by a rocket in Rio springs immediatley to mind along with its

stay in the San Carlo hospital in Milano.

His head - wound have been sewed, and he hes a strong concussion.

For the future of this Champions League group it would be better, to

I have compassion with the Milan players , this event is not their fault,
it has been one or more silly fans, who has destroyed that match.

Krankl has phoned his friend (chairman of Steyr) to asking for the result.

A terrible match for a spectator.

A destroying team (Austria) and a shooting team (Chelsea), failing

has not decided for a penalty. (but I think the fate would be to hard for

What a surprise, we all have hoped , FC Tirol will come to the 3rd round after

    I was at Cannes's ground last night and what disastrous tactics it was,
    playing attacking football when all they had to do was wait for the
    Austrians go on counter-attacks. I missed the first 20 minutes (!) and
    could not believe the scoreboard (0:3).
    
    And then I watched an excellent game, with Cannes getting 10 clear
    chances at least and only scoring 2. One of those games when nothing
    works!
    
    Well done the Austrians but they should never have been allowed to come
    close to Cannes's goal!

    very unfair... I read yesterday in a portuguese sport newspaper that AC

    What I understood was that they were glad to have Rapid because they

It is true, that Feyenoord was glad to get Rapid instead of PSG and Coruna,
but Rapid was glad to get Feyenoord and not PSG and Coruna,too.

The problem in the media has been an interview with Arie Haan, who was saying,
Rapid looks so easy, that the final would be no problem for Feyenoord,
but in Austria (as in the whole world) newspapers and TV are dramatic.

Vorwaerts Steyr has played 2 years ago in the Europacup , but this year they
are bad and without any luck.

In autumn they lost many,many points in last minutes, wrong penalties aso.
Last week they have been in front against Sturm Graz (2nd) 1:0 ten minutes
before end (1:3), last weekend ag. Austria Wien 2:1 (same situation, 2:2)

But I believe , Steyr has no chances in the 2nd division with this
team.

Rapid Wien is much better than Austria Salzburg in the UEFA Cup final
and Champions League last years.

Rapid had "no chance" against Moskau (1:0,3:0) and Rotterdam (1:1,3:0).

So I will say, Rapid has "no chance" today's evening and tomorrow we will
discuss the result.

Vorwaerts Steyr is coming from Oberoesterreich (Upper Austria), they have
won the Austrian Cup three years ago (against Rapid Wien !), last year playing
very well. Players now ? - answer is coming

Oh dear, sorry Heribert (but you're not a Rapid fan are you?).

And it was one of the worst European finals I've seen. The difference between 
the teams was that the PSG defence gave Rapid no space at all. Rapid's lack of 
class was exposed, and they never really looked as if they would score. PSG's 
finishing wasn't any better (at least I got that bit right!)

Liverpool must already be odds-on favourites for this Cup next season.

    How much were PSG players betting each other in the "Who can miss
    badly" bet??? Some very good attempts at winning that particular award
    last night!! Even Readings finishing is not that awful.....well not

Well, I've seen PSG a few times this season, and been interested to see how 
they're managing without Weah and Ginola. It's clear they haven't been 
replaced - they've got nothing up front. Their best attacker by far is the 
midfielder Djorkaeff, and you can tell what he thinks of the rest of them - he
never passes to anyone. Though I did see them put on one impressive
performance - they won 3-0 at Celtic!

Both teams has shown slow football , like a game in a training camp.

    Ekeren is a club in the sub-top of the Belgian league during the past 3
    or 4 years. 
    
    They have no famous players. But it is a team with a big heart and they
    will be difficult to beat at home. Anderlecht regularly looses in the
    Veldwijckpark stadion.
    
    The second round would be a major success for them.
    
    3 or 4 years ago, they were also in the CWC first round, but they were
    beaten by Celtic Glasgow.
    
    I don't know Casino Graz, but knowing the current form of the Austrian
    teams, I could be an interesting duel.
