    	Tonights cup results;

    		Dunfermline 1 Airdrie 3

    		East Stirlingshire 0 Aberdeen 3?

    		Alloa 2 Ross County 0

Cowdenbeath 1 Morton 2 (Contrary to Archie's note a couple
back, Morton didn't lose the first game 2-0, they actually scored twice
in the last two minutes to force the replay)

Only tie still to be decided tonight is the rematch on neutral
ground between Clydebank and Dundee (after the boxing match in the first
game). Heard on the radio that there's only going to be 300 Clydebank
and 450 Dundee supporters at the game due to the stringent procedures
put in place regarding the purchasing of tickets for the game (even
though the SFA - which of course as we all know stands for what Jim
Farry and his chums know about football - decreed that 750 of each
    side could attend).
    	Some of the 4th round ties;

Hibs v Hearts Dundee Utd v Motherwell
Raith Rovers v Aberdeen Rangers v Alloa Ath.
    		Morton v Kilmarnock
And then this is when it all starts to go hazy.
    		Stranraer v Airdrie
    		St. Johnstone v Stirling Albion
    		Dundee/Clydebank v St. Mirren
Being played on Sat 19th Feb (apart from Hibs v Hearts which is
live on BBC1 on the Sunday).

have won 7 or 8 league games all season and are in with a chance of a
European place, doesn't that tell you something. Rangers currently have
their worst team for 4 or 5 years but yet again are running away with
the Premier league. Unless there are some very favourable first round
draws, ALL scottish clubs will leave Europe after 2 games next season.

I actually don't have a problem but it appears that you have Mr Smith.

What should help your problem is a remote control for your television
that can switch channels so that you can just press a button
whenever a scottish football match is on tv. Its a pity we can't all
delete the notes you grace the conference with as they are sometimes
pretty irrelevant (just like this one).

Bye for now Mr Smith I'll no doubt read you reply tomorrow night when

Hey, all I said was that Scottish football is crap. 90% of football
folk would agree with that. If I wish to watch a top English
premiership game then I will. Do you realise that more people in
Scotland watched a recent English game on TV as opposed to a Scottish
game on the same day. Tells it's on story.

I only expressed an opinion about my views on football in this
country. That's what this conference is about, individual viewpoints.
You obviously have different views. That's your right, I'm not about
delete your reply because I think it's wrong or irrelevant.

Well what a lot of crap,I watch a lot of English football on the
Sky TV and as a loyal follower of Dunfermline A.F.C I have had the
great pleasure of watching games in all of the leagues here in Scotland
and must say that I find very litle difference between the English
  and Scottish game,
Yes English football look more entertaining(sp) because the game is played at
a slower pace to the Scottish game, most of the parks are bigger than Scottish
parks so the game tends to look more fluent(sp). But when it comes down to
real hard nitty gritty stuff the Scottish game is no worse than the English.
I've sat a many a night in front of the box watching English games and have
nodded of,coming to at about 12 midnight and checking the text to see what I
missed and finding a 0-0 result.English football is more in the limelight
than Scottish by way of the media but when it comes down to playing ability
then you only have to look at the Leeds Untd -Rangers results a couple of year
  back.
Yes Scotland and their domestic teams have struggled a bit in world/European
football where England have progressed through to various rounds of the
European comps' and this is partly due to the numbers of games domestic
teams in England play compared to the amount they play in Scotland. The
Scottish F.A are needing to re-think the amount of games the domestic teams
play per season and concentrate on the building of a good international side
which will be able to compete with the rest of the world.(But of course the
big gun in Scottish football will not like this ie Rangers.Celtic etc because
they will lose out on the income from the gates).

    Re last,

Scotland have guys in the squad from the English first
division,if that doesn't tell you that their game is at a higher
standard than ours I don't know what will .
True there are some boring games in the English Premiership but
mostly you get to see class players like Cantona,Sutton,Shearer and
Rush showing their skills .Compare that to Wullie Falconer,Wayne Foster
Bobby Williamson and Gordon Durie .No contest .
Oh and most "parks" are roughly the same size,60yds wide and
110yds long .Same throughout the world !

All this nonsense about too many games. The performance by English
and Italian teams have proved that this is not a valid excuse for
    poor performances home and abroad.
My opinion of why Scottish football is so uninteresting is due to a
    number of reasons.
Firstly, top teams playing each other 4 or 5 times a year breeds
familurality. Secondly Rangers have too much money at their disposal
for anyone to seriously compete with them. And finally, my experience
of scouts was that they were more interested in signing the physical
players as oppossed to the natural skilful players.

I think top English teams play more games.
	  Scotland	England
League 36 42
Cup rounds 5 6
League Cup 5 6 (2 of which are 2 legs)
Euro Cups 1 ;-) 4/5
Even before this season when Scot Premier played 44 league games it still
seems comparable.
The main problem with Scottish football is that there are no middling games
where the result is not vital to promotion/relegation so produce a lot of
tense (& crap) football so not helping younger players to learn proper
skills. English football also has a similar problem.

The Hearts v`s Rangers televised cup tie was the best game I`ve seen
in Scotland for a long time.
Apart from the Southampton v`s Spurs cup tie,I have to go back to the
Liverpool v`s Man Utd 3-3 game at Annfield a couple of seasons back, for
    a really memorable game.
There are crap games on both sides of the border but I must admit,
Scottish football is dismal just now.

    Davy,
it's obvious you don't see much english games on Sky. There has been
at least 6 crackers I can remember this season already. The Crystal
Palace Wolves one last week was a stormer, great goals etc. Perm any 4
from the rest of the games, i.e a couple of the Man Utd games, a couple
of the Spurs games and one of the Newcastle games was a cracker as well,
    and it's only March.

p.s. And your right, the Hearts v rangers was a cracker. The biggest
cheer of the season must go to rangers' equalizer and total silence of
the year must go to Hearts' 4th. (rangers supporters only).

and before all you TIT for tats come in, I'll say it....what about
Raith Rovers, nana na na na. OK, you can take the nappies back off now.

    regards

    colin
