Here's a couple of topics being banded about the stands and
	pubs of Britain.
o Away kits - will sales of Black & White telly's finally
	  increase??????
Here's a quote from the Sunday Independant :-
" A collective boo to football kit manufacturers and a host of League
clubs for the dreadful away strips they will be foisting on the
public this season. In their bilious psychedelia they epitomise the
yawning gap between fashion and style"
Some tricky gob-fulls in their, but I think I get the message....
o Civil Laws - 3 new laws have been introduced onto the terraces
	this season,
1..Don't chuck anything on the pitch
		2..Don't 'invade' the pitch
3..NO offensive or racist chants or songs
Obviously I've cut the legal frills out of the above guidelines,
but the ideas are the same.
Does anyone know the answers to the following queries I have:-
+ Who is enforcing these new laws, Police or Club?
		+ Who will prosecute?
+ What are the ranges of sentences available to the
		  enforcers?
+ Are there implications for the Live coverages of
matches on the T.V., e.g. audio dubs, delayed coverage, etc.
+ Are they for any other sports?
+ Im sure there are many more questions and undoubted
		  problems with these laws.

o Are clubs taking the pi**???
Most first division teams are now using travel clubs for many
away games, the pricing structure for these trips I feel, is
becoming exhorbitant. An example is the Arsenal travel club

		Austria Vs Arsenal
European cup first round second leg
		Wednesday, October 2, kick-off 7.30 p.m.
		2 day air trip = 425
Admitedly all the frills added, hotel etc, but still, 425???????
Surely some clubs are pricing their fans of the terraces........
			Cheers Al.

Re prices, I thin kthe clubs are trying to discourage hooliganism by
putting the prices up. This will only work if you have no other way of
getting to the game. Most fans will end up making their own way to
matches which leads to more problems.

Irish football fans are currently being ripped off over the forthcoming
game in Poland. Most trips are 425-450 for 3 days (2 nights) which
is just a case of milking the fans (I paid 300 2 years ago to go to
Hungary for 4 days). The only way out is to make your own
arrangements. It looks like it will be considerably cheaper to travel
to London, get a flight from there and book your own accomodation.

Football fans are fighting back through fanzines and organisation like
    the Football Supporters Association.

      Re....Away European trips..

The problem with Club run trips is that they go straight to the
ground and then you go sraight home afterwards.Spurs play in Austria
tomorrow night, the club have two planes and Coaches going, which is ok
if you just want to go to the game and then shoot off home.Unfortunatly
I couldnt go as Im off on Holiday on Thursday, but a couple of Mates of
mine ended up paying 166 just for the flight and then getting
accomodation and match tickets in Austria.Stockerau is justy outside
Vienna so they can stay in Vienna and just make there way to Stockerau
on match day. This is more like a real European trip, and I think there
will be alot of other Spurs fans doing it that way.
As Gary says, the Clubs are trying to put Fans off going....but it
that wont work...You cant beat a good European trip.

Gary,
Have you made any arrangements for the Polish trip? I know quite a few
who are interested/will be going. Obviously the cheaper the better...any
suggestions?
Michael.

Nothing planned yet Mick. I don't fancy being ripped off so I'm
checking out flights from London. The best I've got so far is STG279
but a mate in Limerick was quoted STG210. Going to London would also
mean seeing a game or 2 there as well and Chelsea just happen to be at
home to Liverpool the following Saturday.

Apparently everything is very cheap once you get to Warsaw. I'd much
rather make my own way there even if it costs the same rather than
contribute to Ray Treacy's fat profits or those of Irish Travel.

Given the current situation in the Soviet Union the game may even be in
    doubt.

    Gary.

    Re.5 Andy...

Gosport's alittle too far for me to go,as the Game kicks off at
6:30pm,so I will have to make do with Live Radio Commentary with the
Famous Jonathan Pearce and Bobby Moore or Terry Neil on Capital Gold.

I thought ITV had signed an Exclusive deal to screen Spurs's European
    Games Live.....???????

| | Could'nt think of a place to insert this (behave!) so here's as good
    as any.

The new WSC issue has a couple of mirth invoking lines this week. The
first from an article about football strips:

"The Brighton team, with shorts as striped as their shirts, were
described in The Observer as looking like eleven Andy Pandys on
    acid".

But do the tops still look like TESCO bags one asks?

The second article deals with South African footy and throws up
some pretty interesting amateur team names:

"Where else would you see an amateur cup game between Sheffield Sunday
and Argentina? We have Ashton Villa, Brains Milan and Rainbow
Juventus. We have Oscar Hotspurs, Kelvinator Arsenal and Pele Utd
Brothers. We have AC Guillit Stars, and they are just a netball
     team".

Brains Milan versus, my favourite, Pele Utd Brothers. Has a certain
     ring to it doncha think?

     Barry.

The Super League is upon us.....any comments..
o Do you think the League clubs, especially II, III and IV
have been too tempted by the 'pay-off' offered by
	  Mr Kelly's 'super-league'.
o Will people be driven back to supporting their smaller
	  local lower division clubs?
o What will happen on the European front, from which league's
	  will the clubs be chosen?
o What happens to the F.A. cup?
o How will it affect the England squad's selection options?

o Who is the controlling body for the super-league, how will
transfers be handled? Will the big-clubs get 'bigger' and
	  consequently 'better'?
Just some points I thought of on the spur of the moment.
			Cheers Al.

What happens to the state of football in this country, then ? It's all
very well for the big clubs to have MORE millions to spend, but what
are they going to spend it on when smaller clubs are being forced under
? Answer - foreigners ? So, by destroying the "infrastructure" of the
game, in fifteen years time we'll have a national team just about
capable of competing with Germany's under 16s...

Would that be Nick Hornby? (Obviously the lack of alcohol is kicking in

From what I've heard the footie has been toned down, in order to
concentrate on the relationship, so anyone can enjoy it. It's getting
    good reviews.
