Quote from an interview with Zuhair Muhsin, who was then-head of the PLO's
military depoartment, and member of its executive council, in the Amsterdam
newspaper "Trouw", in March, 1977:
"In fact there is no Palestinian people. The claim to a
separate Palestinian identity is raised only for tactical
purposes. The setting up of a Palestinian state is a tool
in the struggle against Israel and for the sake of Arab
unity ... Only for political reasons do we speak of a
Palestinian identity, because of the Arabs' national
interest against Zionism."
