| 726.1 | Good Idea | CSCMA::GILDER |  | Thu Jun 29 1989 12:31 | 19 |
| | Sam,

What a nice idea; not only nice, but a good one.

Since I'm in a position to only have 3 other friends now available,
who are by coincidence Non-Jewish and female and two of them Non-
Deccies, the third about to move to Colorado, I don't have much
to offer other than myself. And, that's not much.

Hopefully, we'll hear how others feel. I would like to suggest
if this doesn't insult you that we make things really clear that
whomever is "in the pool" is or is not Jewish as well as about the
person and type of person who would be a suitable match.

Otherwise you've got my help in any way possible.

| | Hi Adrienne,

I was beginning to get worried. Glad someone responded....

I posted this in the Bagels notes file because it just so happened
that the two people I was thinking of submitting for this were
Jewish themselves and I figured it ran in the tradition.

I see no reason to limit it to Jews alone but I think we should
respect the wishes of the person(s) being matched. If they're
specifically looking for a Jewish mate or companion, we should
endeavor to match them with one.

Like you, one of the two people I'm thinking of is a non Deccie
and lives in NYC. For that reason I don't want to limit this
to region or to Deccies. The whole idea is to expand the available
    base of elegible candidates.

    /Sam

| 726.3 | how would this matchmaking note work please ? | HANNAH::OSMAN | see HANNAH::IGLOO$:[OSMAN]ERIC.VT240 | Thu Jun 29 1989 14:34 | 15 |
| |
Sam, you certainly get worried easily ! (does that happen on dates
too? :-) I mean, Adrianne only took one day to respond, yet you
    were already worried.

Anyway, could someone please explain how this note would work ? I'm
confused. Great. You're worried and I'm confused. What else is new.

What I'm confused about is, does a matchmaker write to this note,
offering someone ? Or does a lonely heart write to this note asking
to be matched with someone ?

    Thanks.

    /Eric

| 726.4 | Worry - My middle name | CIMNET::FREEMAN | Sam Freeman, DTN 291-7448, MET-1/K2 | Thu Jun 29 1989 15:26 | 26 |
| | Worry easy, me? Nah...

Let's keep it open to all - lonely hearts and people being offered
included. Jeesh, next thing we'll have a note named Bintel Brief.

I haven't given enough thought to how this thing should work.
Off the cuff, I guess the best way that I can think of is the
    following:

    1.	Someone enters a reply for a person they wish to match.
Could be someone they know or themselves. Sort of like
a singles advert. Should include description of person
being matched and person being searched for - likes,
    	dislikes, etc.

    2.	I guess if I have a potential match for someone I would
contact them via mail, not directly via a reply. It
really resembles a singles notes file, except that we're
encouraging the participation of third parties.

So why not use the existing singles notes entry for this?
    I don't have a good answer.

    Any other thoughts?

    \Sam

lives in arlington. Studied photography as an undergraduate.
    Her name is Elizabeth

I would like to put my twin sister in this note. She is
now 23 years old and a grad student at North Eastern.
She is studying for her Masters in Speach Pathology
and should be finished next summer.

She is interested in athletics (both as a fan and
as a participant) and plays in a local softball fan.
Even though we grew up as Met fans, being able
to see the diamond vision at fenway park from her
apartment has had an effect on her :(/. Anyway, she
enjoys getting out and doing things as well as relaxing
    on the beach.

You can get in touch with me at ldybug::pinck or DTN: 223-4334
    if you want more information.

(oh yea, do not come down to look at me to see what she looks
like, we are fraternal (sp) twins.:)

Lynn is 28, Jewish, and lives in a great but expensive apartment in
Manhattan (what apartment in Manhattan ISN'T expensive)? A graduate of
Syracuse University, Lynn worked in retail management for five years
(Macy's) before embarking on a career in entertainment management. She is
around 5'5'' tall, medium build (not, thin, not fat), with
reddish-brown hair. She enjoys swimming, movies, traveling, and
    visiting new restaurants.

If you're interested in meeting a great woman, please send me mail at

| 726.10 | DEFINITION OF A MATCHMAKER | STEREO::LEVINE |  | Thu Jul 27 1989 12:20 | 11 |
| | Don't mean to be a gadfly BUT......................

If you REALLY want a matchmaker, you need ONE MORE person: the
Shadchen. Do as you have been doing in these notes, BUT these entries
are then submitted to another person. This person gets to know
the candidates, and THEN attempts to MATCH up the ones this person
believes will be compatible. Right now, it seems that the notesfile
    is the matchmaker!

    Carry on mates!

| | I don't know if there are many UK jewish readers out there but just in
case, I thought I'd introduce my sister:

Karen is an attractive and terrifically slim, petite female, about 5'2''.
Dark complection with dark brown wavy hair, brown eyes, 28 years old. Her
career is in computing (runs in the family!) she has a maths/comp degree
and she is looking for an educated, professional jewish male, 28 - 35 years
old with 'a bit of life' and who likes travel etc. She has a lot of
life and is great fun to have around, I think it's a great waste that
she's not with anyone at the moment, but she doesn't get to meet any
jewish people where she works in London.

Karen lives in central London. If any 'nice jewish males' are out
there who are interested, please contact me on IOSG::THOMPSONR.
