| 504.1 | Blessing and TBA info | OADEV::HEMBERT | Fransou - DTN: 251-1775 | Mon Jul 25 1988 15:01 | 29 |
| | The blessing is the following:

    "Baruch ata Adonxx eloheinu melech haolam asher kideshanu bemitsvotav
    vetsivanu likboa mezuza"

    My husband and I belong to TBA in Nashua; we joined the congregation
    last year and got married there. We regularly attend services and
    enjoy being part of the community.

    Our Rabbi (Gabriel ben Or) is young and active. I enjoy the Saturday
    morning services best when he "challenges" us when presenting/reading
    the week's sidra. We have had some interesting and opposing views
    being discussed in a friendly and open manner....

    The reason we chose TBA was because we felt very comfortable from
    the very beginning, and because it came closest to the way of observing
    I am familiar with (I come from Brussels where I belong to the liberal
    community).

    The congregation is egalitarian; women are honored with "alya",
    and play an active part in the various committees, including the
    religious commitee (of which I am a member).

    I don't know if you have visited TBA before; however, if you have
    the intention of going to services to "get a feel", I'd be
    very happy to introduce you to anyone you'd like to know. Or if
    you prefer to talk to me personally, you can send me mail (OADEV::HEMBERT).

| 504.2 | Hanging Mezuzah | CSCMA::GILDER |  | Tue Jul 26 1988 10:30 | 20 |
|  |     Hi, Deb

    Regarding a blessing on your new home, your Rabbi will know.

    Several years ago, when I moved away from "home" Rabbi Goldstein
    now retired came to my apartment and made a beautiful ceremony.
    It was short and my family came and we had tea and crumpets.

    I don't have any formal religious training so he first said in Hewbrew
    and then translated to something close to it in English. He and
    Mrs. Goldstein had bought the Mezuzah in Israel and it was really
    nice.

    I'm am sure that if you called him, he would be glad to help you.

    I hope I have helped.

    Mazel Tov on your new home.

    Adriane

| 504.3 | T.B.A. ADVOCATE | NRPUR::WALDMAN |  | Thu Aug 04 1988 15:43 | 12 |
| | My wife Susan and I are members of T.B.A. I attend services on a
    regular basis. I extend the same offer. Call me at DTN 234-5098
    if you want to discuss further. BTW there are plenty of "opportunities"
    for people that want to actively participate on committees.

| 504.4 | Thanks all! | 32370::WASSERMAN | Deb Wasserman, DTN 264-1863 | Fri Aug 12 1988 14:29 | 4 |
| | Thanks all for your offers to talk about T.B.A. We've just moved
    in this week, and are faced with, among other things, a complete
    housefull of boxes and furniture to unpack, but we WILL try and
    make it for services this month or next!

| | Just wanted to put in another note about TBA. We sent in our
    membership application a few days ago, and last night, the Rabbi
    called to say hello and welcome. He talked to my husband for about
    15 minutes, asked about our families, Jewish background, interests,
    etc. I thought that was pretty nice!
