News has just come in via a colleague that there has been
a bomb in Dublin.
I don't know yet whether it exploded, but early reports said
that there was a telephoned warning.
More later.

That's it.
It didn't appear in any televised news last night.. any BBC news that
is.
This morning's Guardian reported that the UFF had telephoned the
warning with a recognised code-word, and as mick said in .2, the
centre (O'Connell St.) was closed for 5 - 6 hours.
Of course, it was neatly timed to coincide with the first high-level
meeting between the British and Irish governments since the debacle
of last week's Orange marches in Portadown. In this meeting, the head
of the RUC was apparently asked to defend his decision to reverse his
former stance in ruling against the Orange march. It seems the British
officials cast him to the mercy (not) of the Irish.
