Yesterday, in the Sunday Times (London), Norman Macrae(??) advocated a united Ireland.

The article rambled a bit but the essential thesis was that the
Protestant business-class in NI should support a United Ireland because
they would dominate it ecomomically. Also, such a development would
render all current politicians in Ireland irrelevant - all parties,
North and South, being ultimately driven by a sectarian split or their
views on how to deal with it.

    I agree with him.

Could one of you technically astute people get the article downloaded
fron the internet (or whereever you guys get these things from!) so
that all can see what he had to say in full?

| This somewhat degrades the influence of the Catholic middle and
managerial class, predominant in key positions in many major
multi-national companies both in Ireland and overseas. The key issue
and one you have alluded to previously is what is the longer term
vision for Ireland, is it based on economic prosperity or on continuing
sectarianism and Ireland remaining in the 19th century.
