| | Hi Dirk, there are lots of good pubs along your route.
In Dingle there is Drochead Beag, Lord Bakers, Benners,
and McCarthy's. You should be able to find one of them
    with traditional music.

Clare is considered kind of the bible belt of traditional
music if you can stand the Ballyvaughan crowd. Home of the
legendary Micko Russell and keVins Burns of Ye-3. In Doolin
you will find McGanns and O'Connors. Closing time often means
when the gardai arrive. Miltown Malbay is supposed to be good too.

In Galway city the Crane on Sea Road used to be good - I don't know
about it lately. McSwiggan's is good for dinner though.

And Donegal is also a good spot for traditional music. The
towns of Bundoran, Ballyshannon, and Donegal. Achill Island
in Mayo is also a great area to tour. Des can help you here...
Westport is also an interesting market town.

    Have a great trip!
    /George

It's gotten even better lately. My brother and sister, David and Mary
Larkin are now running it, and by all accounts business is
booming....live traditional music every night etc..

Be sure to go there. Tell them I sent you....or maybe then again you
    shouldn't...;-)

| | Gerry, I never realised you were related to those gods of porter
David and Mary Larkin. I make sure I get to the Crane at least once
a week, but the truth is I'd be happy to live there. It's really
moved up a notch since they took over. Great, friendly sessions
(no power players), and an easy atmosphere. They've even cleaned
up the bar downstairs, where the furniture was starting to smell
a bit.

| | Not sure how far your going to get in 2 weeks...By the time you get
out of keery and up around clare you may need to get medical advice
lot of mad pubs around there..Try munroes in Galway also....On the way
dublin try a town called banagher which is on the shannon..about 15
miles (25 km) off thetrack..theres a pub called Houghs there which
is good...lets be honest its mad!...Good music..Though you are better
off going there at night when the lights are dimmed..just in case you
actually SEE what the place looks like..,..

	Re: .1 and Clare pubs.

Micho Russell died about a year ago. I think Doolin has changed a
lot from its heyday and seems to have got very busy and commercial
(it's all relative though - it's still well worth a visit for a
first-timer). Miltown is very quiet outside of Willy Clancy
	week.

The pubs in Ennistymon and Lisdoonvarna have music all year
round, also in Kilfenora Vaughan's and Nagles are worth a look at
	weekends.

Westport as someone mentioned currently has a very active music
scene, Matt Molloy's, Hoban's and McHaile's being three places
	that spring to mind.

| | Dirk,

After you come out of Rosslaire you will head into Wexford. Just
outside Wexford town on the banks of the Slaney there is a lovely pub
    called the FerryCarrig Inn.

Just go in there and retire. You can forget the rest of the west. There
is a famous Crannog Village just beside it for Daytime Visiting. The
night life is already taken care of.

If you feel like going further instead of heading for Cahir go to
Waterford or Clonmel and then cross the Comeraghs into Dungarvan. Its
one of the best areas in Ireland and almost completely unspoiled. Long
sandy beaches - great pubs. Then pass on through Youghal (again on the
    coast) to Cork.

| | Hi guys,
having seen no more replies to this topic recently I assume everything has been
said.
Many thanks for your responses. By the way, if anyone of you lives in the
neighbourhood I'm inviting you for a beer if you want.
I'm entering another topic now (Bed and Breakfast) with a more detailed
planning for those interested.
Thanks again,
Dirk
