Hi Jen,
Going from Bristol to Tenby if interested in the scenery etc
take a diversion off the M4 around Newport up to Ross-on-Wye and try
to take in the Forest of Dean. From Ross just wend your way along the
A40 through the Brecon Beacons down to Carmarthen, its really scenic
as long as you have plenty of time. Its the way I go to the boat on
my way over to Ireland. Tenby is very crowded in the holiday season
but is handy for places such as St Davids and the Gower Peninsula.
Rights thats my bit for Welsh Tourism and the outlaws. :-)
P.S. The Sun Inn is the most popular pub in Tenby!!

Thanks for the information!
I'll be going in October so hopefully the *mad* crowds will have died
down a bit by then. I'll be staying with someone from Wales who will
have a car so hopefully I can get to see the area you recommend.

| Hi, Another place of interest would be the welsh folk museum. Junction
33 off the M4 just past Cardiff. Cardiff itself is a very nice city
also.

I leave on Thursday! :) And I notice Cardiff did seem to have lots to
see and is on the main Train Route.
Speaking of Newport, my Welsh friend that visited the States and went
to Newport, Rhode Island laughed when he bought a sweatshirt there.
He said he had to make sure it said Rhode Island or they'd think it
meant in Wales!

I'm not sure if the Welsh Folk Museum is near a train stop. As I
recall it was wll outside the city, but that was the year we had a car.

Hi...me again!
My vacation was great, but unfortunately I did not make it to Wales as
planned. I only got as far as Bath/Bristol. However, I might be
planning a return visit.
I was wondering about the best way to get from Taunton, England over to
Wales. Do you have to go all the way around or is there a Ferry
across the Bristol channel?

I haven't gone that route for decades but I was under the impression
there's a rather large bridge across it.

From Taunton go up the M5 past Bristol to junction 20, then turn
west on to the M4 which goes over the Severn Road bridge and
brings you into Wales nearish to Cardiff... it's about 60 miles
from Taunton the the Welsh end of the Severn bridge.

i wasn't too impressed...we've got one too.
