Off the coast of Kerry , near Cahirciveen ....
Best known as the Eastern Terminal station for the Atlantic Cable.
The island is 7 miles long and 2 miles wide.

It's connected to the mainland by an iron bridge these days. It
was rather desolate, but very pretty - I was there last year.
The main town/village, Knightstown, has the dubious honour of housing
a rather tacky, brightly-lit, American-style bar called "Bostons",
which is bedecked with Boston Celtics/Boston Bruins/Boston Red Sox
paraphernalia, not to mention a thousand and one (well maybe I
exaggerate) pictures and postcards of Boston. Somehow the bar didn't
seem to fit in with the very traditional little town it was in. But
thankfully it still served good Guinness.
