| There is a DUECE SPANISH COLLEGE, Colaise Chiarain, Old Connaught,
Bray, Co. Dublin listed in the '01' area phone book. I for one have
never heard of them but will make enquiries. Some of these 'colleges'
can be less than academically brilliant and a certain caution is
necessary.

Some of Bray is in County Dublin, the border is somewhere near the old
Irish Yarns factory. However Old Connaght Road is definitly in Co
Wicklow.

| Red face! wrist slapped! I stand corrected! Bray is the compost
heap and is now an outer suburb of Dublin.
I hope Farrell doesn't read this note; I'd never hear the end of
it!

What do you mean Bray is the compost heap. If this is true
of Bray, what does that make Dublin ???

| Absolutely brilliant, in the very best Irish tradition - get away
from the original point as quickly as possible and start an argument.
To the outsider it "may" be a little confounding - hopefully - but
to hell with them, it's one of the many attributes that make the

At least you can't say I didn't warn ye. Anyway it's nice to get
a bit of activity - even of the banal (that doesn't rhyme with anal)
type. I'm a bit tired of all the U.S. Politicking going on in other
notes not too far removed from this one.
Hmmmm, Greystones, is that some kind of social disease ?? :-))

| Hope these replies don't reflect on the school ;-)
Just got some official information from the school and they do indeed
list their "proper" address as Old Connaught, Bray, Co Wicklow.
Seeing as most of us Americans are not to particulary good at foreign
geography (nor US geography for that matter), naming a nearby better
know city is a common fact of advertising.
Now that I know we're discussing the right place, let the conversation
continue! OH my, will this note now degrade to geography or certain folks
abilities to follow directions?? Are there any red lights in Bray??

p.s. Continue the rat hole if you like. I'm a long time reader, and
some day, when I don't have to chauffer kids around, would love to make
some of your get togethers and meet the faces behind some the characters
in this notes file!

| As a resident of Greystones I have observed some of the "little
darlings" who attend the college in Bray .Many of them live in
Greystones and are ferried to and from school by special bus.They
rarly mix with Irish youth prefering to hang around together usually
outside the local video shop.
Many locals view them as a nuisance and much of the graffiti that
appears in Greystones is attributed to them. I dont know whether
this is true or not. I do know that there wer problems with them
bullying young locals last year but this was sorted by a view locals
returning the compliment. I myself have had a summer student stay
with my family and I have to say that I didnt learn much.The student
seemed quiet while in the house and was reluctant to bother speaking
English even though she could. She just wanted to be with her friends.
I dont think that they look on the visit as a learning thing but
as a way to escape the strict parental control that exists in Spain .
BTW if Bray is the Compost Heap of Dublin then Greystones must surely
be the garden (even if it is well inside county Wiclow which is the
GARDEN of IRELAND)

| Pure Bliss,
I feel at home now. When I was in my rebellious(sp!)
teenage years growing up in Greystones, we had a few fallouts with
our Spanish 'friends'. Are there as many of them in the town this
year as previous years (I am going back about 8-9 years).
Do they try and take over the 'Mens' swimming area because there
was a unofficial rule between the locals that this was a place for
them only

| Yes they do swim in the mens....but less and less locals are swimming
there cos' of the sewage. There are now close to 8500 residents
in Greystones and the same means of disposing of the sewage exists
ie: open the pipe at full tide. A new sewage treatment plant has
been under construction for 4 years and still isnt finished.
If you want any other news about Greystones let me know and Ill
be happy to provide it.
