    I found this poem (or perhaps it's an excerpt?) in a novel, _The
    Irish_ by Doris Flood Ladd.  Does anyone recognize it?  Is this
    the poem in it's entirety?  Who wrote it?  And all that.
    
       "Long, long be my heart with such memories filled,
        As the vase in which roses have once been distilled,
        You may break, you may shatter the vase if you will,
        But the scent of the roses will hang around still."

	Hi There, My educated guesses are...... If the poem is contained within a novel and is indeed taken from another work, it most definitely should be referenced somewhere on or near the copyright page. Otherwise the author could get in a lot of trouble (i.e. plagiarism). If there is no such reference to be found, the poem must be by the author him[her]self. Check out the fine print.
