    Just had to put this in, had to moan to someone.
    For all you Celts out there (home grown variety) ie Welsh, Irish
    as well as us Scots, we've all been tarred with the same brush as
    the English, at least as far as the Belgian Soccer association are
    concerned. Scotland are playing Belgium in the European Football
    qualifying round, and the Belgians have refused to allow any Scots
    fans to attend the match in Bruges, this follows the Heysel Stadium
    Disaster where Liverpool(English) soccer fans were blamed for causing
    a riot in which 37 people died(2 years ago), as a result no English
    teams have been allowed to play abroad since. I object strongly
    to the Scots fans being classed along with the English.

    Just thought I would pose a question related to Liverpool football
    team. How many English actually play for them? If you take away
    the Celts they would not be left with much. They say they have some
    of the best club football in the world and on the basis of that
    they expect to compete with the best at international level. Most
    of the best players in the 1st division are "foriegners".

    Yes ,Liverpool is full of Scottish,Irish and Welsh, and I would
    go to say that we have the best footballers but after Scotland being
    beaten 4-1 last night night by Belgium I7d better keep my mouth
    shut. Also I was talking about the Scottish supporters being tarred
    with the same brush as the English, as it turned out the Belgians
    sold 500 tickets to Scots fans.

    Hi,
    	It is common practice in the United States to consider the entire
    island as England.  I had dinner with a fellow from Connecticut
    last week and he indicated that he was not aware of the insult until
    he lived in England for a number of months and traveled to Scotland
    and Wales.

	I didnt think you could speak of footie "fans" and Liverpool
supporters in the same breath!!!!

anyway or was that devolution vote a few years ago just a 
figment of my imagination.

    It has been a while since I've seen this notes file.  Being called
    British is OK with me; however English is not correct.  It is a bit
    like Mexicans calling all people that are of European origin "Anglo";
    not anywhere near accurate.
