101.0. "Any Record Clubs in Ireland?" by TALLIS::DARCY (George @Littleton Mass USA) Tue Dec 02 1986 22:05
I looking to buy records by Irish and English musicians,
rock, pop and folk. Unfortunately, most records stores in the
US have few selections of foreign records. It's a pity
because music from the British Isles is usually the trend
setter, and some of it eventually makes its way across the
    Atlantic.

Anyways, does anyone know any clubs in the British Isles
(preferrably in Ireland) that sell selections via mail,
like the record-of-the-month clubs here? If so, could you
    reply with their addresses?

The types of musicians I'm interested in is "Paul Brady",
"Rory Gallagher", "Chris de Burgh", and "In Tua Nua".
I've tried having relatives send records over, but buying
from a club would be a lot easier.

    Go raibh maith agat,
    Seoirse

| | I can't answer your question.

But have you been to Briggs & Briggs?

Even closer to Littleton than Briggs & Briggs, which is in Harvard
Square, Cambridge, is a music store called Minor Chord in Acton,
next to Folsom's restaurant. They have a pretty good collection
    of traditional music.

| 101.3 | mail order !! | MEO78B::FARRELL |  | Thu Feb 05 1987 12:51 | 11 |
| | Hi folks, I am based in Australia and I am having similiar problems
I was at home (Dublin) over Christmas and noticed that VIRGIN records
have a mail order facility in Dublin. VIRGIN records are probably
the biggest record store in England (but we wont hold that against
them). At the moment I am listening to Mary Black whom I went to
see over Christmas (boast).. If you know Dublin it is sad to see
that Tara records no longer exists. If you become really desparate
you could get the 'yellow pages' and write to the record comapnies
    for catalogues !!

    Hope this helps

Mary Black is one of my favorite Irish singers. I heard her sing
in person in Waterford a few years back. I have her "Mary Black
    Collected" record.

Anyone know the address of VIRGIN?
