| 57.1 | Guinness in N.H. | BRAT::DROTTER |  | Mon Jun 16 1986 11:26 | 17 |
| | Thanks for the info and good news about where to get a good pint of
     Guinness in the Nashua area! It's about time!! Before this, the
     only other two places that I know of that serve Guinness in N.H.
     are: Daniel's Pub in Henniker (It's Guinness but they don't serve
     it in a pint glass and they definitely don't know how to "pull
     a decent pint"; The other place is The Press Room in Portsmouth.
     This is a really great place with music (and on occasion ie St.
     Patrick's Day REAL Irish music - not that toora loora loora stuff!)
     They also play darts there. Unfortunately, it's a long way from
     Nashua/Manchester.
     If anyone else knows a good pub that serves Guinness, please let
     us all know.

     Slante,

      Joe Drotter   (BRAT::DROTTER)

| | Not far down the road, there's Guiness on tap also...
    ...at McKennas Pub in Colorado Springs. If you are in the neighborhood,
    stop by and have a few.

| 57.3 | Not available - Real Guiness | AKOV04::WILLIAMS |  | Thu Oct 02 1986 08:03 | 6 |
| | There is not a proper offering of Guiness available in a 'pub' in
    the US, nor can you find a proper offering of real ale! The Guiness
    and the British Ale sent to the US is made just for the US (various
    laws on proof, content, etc. dictate this). None of our relatives
    from Ireland or Wales would argue with this but I'm sure my fellow
    noters will :-).

     Amazing that this pretentious, pompous prig purporting to be an
     authority on Guinness can't even spell it properly.

    There was no intention to pass myself off as an authority on Guinness,
    it doesn't appeal to me. Relatives who come to visit from Williamstown
    (just north of Galway) tell me the Guinness they are offered in
    the U.S. is not very good.

    British Ales are another subject. These I do claim to know a little
    about and will argue the best are not offered in the U.S. I will
    also argue the British Ales we are offered are not the same as those
    available UNDER THE SAME BRAND NAMES in the U.K.

| 57.6 | Draught Guinness in Worcester/Middlesex County? | ARGUS::CURTIS | Dick 'Aristotle' Curtis | Mon Nov 03 1986 21:38 | 7 |
| | Kathleen's in Nashua is a fine place, but it's a long drive back
    to Leominster. Would anyone know of a similarily fine place, with
    draught Guinness, along Rt. 2 or 495? (I suppose I can just keep
    drafting drivers for the trip home, but...)

       I've just entered the conferance to finf some info about Ireland and
    I was pleased to see a mention of Ni'Houlihan's.

       Angus was a friend for the short time I knew him and his pleasent
    wife. Anytime I and my two friends came through the door Angus would
    call the bank and let them know the mortage money was about to be made.
                                                                    8^)

       But Angus decided that working 60 plus hours a week was not his
    idea of retirement. Angus leased the business to a group of four
    young men who did not have a very good concept of what Angus managed to
    build up. Shortly after riff-raff was the common element in the Pub.
    The Guinness was never properly poured and other small things brought
    the bussiness down.

       Ni'Houlihan's has now closed their doors. What a shame.

       Angus was a fine person and I have enjoyed hour of his sailing
    tales.   Oh well...

       Rick.
