| | is the SB a plug and play type?

    And does your BIOS allow automatic assignment of Plug and play
    devices?

    Check out both of these.

    Sometimes its a matter of enabling/disabling IRQ assignments manually
    before it will work consistant.

|  |     chet,
        It is an SB PNP and the BIOS is enabled for pnp.
    The strange thing is the sudden stopping.How come it can't identify an
    IRQ either?
    cheers

| 3810.3 | Can you return it for a normal SB? | PCBUOA::WHITEC | Parrot_Trooper | Mon Apr 28 1997 19:27 | 13 |

    I'm not to familiar with SB PnP.....did it come with a ISA Config
    Utility? I know of someone that did get that card to work in an
    old ISA system 486/33 but it took a little time to try all
    combinations.

    can you HARD Lock the IRQ/Resources? If so, then do that. Set the
    IRQ to 5 or 7. And then to into Control Panel/System to see
    if DEVICE MANAGER shows any conflicts.

    Good luck,

| 3810.4 | Tried that | ANNECY::HOTCHKISS |  | Tue Apr 29 1997 09:46 | 4 |
| | Yes,I can hard lock an IRQ and I chose 10 (which conflicts with the
    keyboard but who cares..).
    The system will then play sound for a while and then stop.
    However,it is not the card - all diagnostics and tests work fine.
