A customer of mine is in the process of converting his AS2100's from
VMS to NT 3.51 - and as part of this they would like to split their
dual HSZ40 to two non-reduntant HSZ40's, and has bought a BA350-MB
to move the controller to.
At the moment he has 2 x AS2100 connected to the HSZ40's, and the HSZ's
are driving 4 disk shelves.
My question - What is the bast way to split the controller.
What will happen when the separate shelves are powered on for
the first time and cannot see the other controller?
Can I just take two of the disk shelves (from the dual reduntant
mode) and connect to new single controller and still see the disk
from VMS - without having to be initualized...
I should make it clear that this splitting will not be done online
and at the end of it both system will still be running VMS - the NT
migration will happen at a later date...
Thanks in advance
Luigi

Prior to splitting the systems you should do a CLI command to set nofailover. This will ensure that there are no problems when they are not together. | |||||
