        Hello All
    
    	An unusual Reset on an HSD30 V2.7-0 yesterday running SLS Backups.
    	
    	LFC=034D0100   >> DS init DWDs exhausted.
    
    	Anybody got any ideas what has caused this tape unit or
    	controller? 
    
    	The tape unit is the only device on the HSD30.

       Your tape drive appears to be very broken, or at the very least is
       mis-behaving.
    
    038A0101 INST$DS_T_FM_UNKNOWN_CODE
                 A tape related error code was reported which was unknown
                 to the Fault Management firmware. Note that in this instance 
                 the "asc" and "ascq" fields are undefined.
    
    03F40064 INST$DS_RESET_THE_BUS
                 Device services had to reset the port to clear a bad
                 condition.  Note that in this instance the
                 <CONDITION>(host_int_CI\host_int_DSSI) "target," "asc,"
                 and "ascq" <ENDCONDITION> <CONDITION>(host_int_SCSI)
                 Associated Target, Associated Additional Sense Code, and 
                 Associated Additional Sense Code Qualifier <ENDCONDITION> 
                 fields are undefined.
    
    The controller appears to have run out of error recovery Device Work
    Descriptors (DWD's).

    In the next release of firmware, this code has been improved.  
    However, the tape drive is probably the underlying issue.  Look there
    to resolve the customer's problem.  My first guess it is either broken or
    has down-rev firmware.
