How many 'monuments' to Civil War Regiments are located in
Boston Common? Does anyone know of a publication (or office)
that might detail the locations?
In specific, I'm looking for anything relating to the 11th MA Inf.

I think the only Civil War monuments on Boston Common are the Soldiers
and Sailors monument on Flagstaff Hill, and the 54th Mass. memorial
opposite the State House.
Thomas Boylston Adams mentions these in an article in Yankee magazine
from about 1984 that I just happened to pick up and read the other day
while at my Mother's.
The Somerville Public Library (Tel. 617-623-5000) has a "History of the
Formation of the 11th Massachusetts Volunteers".
The call # is Mass., M, 973.7/H13 and it's on the shelf in the
genealogy and local history room on the 2nd floor.
You might check the town where the 11th was formed to see if there are
any local monuments.

While it isn't directly on the Common, there is a statue of Joseph
Hooker on the grounds of the State House.
Many towns in Mass. have Civil War monuments, so the advice on
checking where the 11th was formed is a good bet.

Well - seeing that the Regt. was formed in Boston. If there isnt
one in the Common - then I doubt that there is one. There isnt any
mentioned in the 1896 published mini-history (.. of the 16th re-union).
