    Hello Everybody,
    
    Just back from my visit at the states and here is my first story.
    
    First to all of you who has been in thgis here notes file for I
    while....I must say hello to you all from the Alabama Slammer.
    Together we have stood in battle just a few days ago. He's doing
    fine although he's been out of work since he left Digital.
    He missis you all in these notes and again take care you all!!
    
    Well for my trip....I've been there all;  Gettysburg was beautiful
    but very crowded and touristic. But walking on that famous ground
    was very very special.
    Antietam was great!!!!!!!! So quit...good film and a beautiful story
    from the rangers. Even my wife liked it, well that should say
    something!
    The Ranger spoke with such spirit that it was worth listening to for
    an hour. After that doing the battlefield and slowly looking everthing
    was great. Just let the ground and your imagine work and you'll be 130
    back in time for awhile!!
    
    For info; I've bought the tapes of the battlefieds. You can do it in
    your own time and I have listened to it already again at home.
    
    Try to tell some more of my exoerience in the U.S and ACW!!!!!!!

	JEAN, I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOUR RETURN TO HERE HOW YOU MADE OUT, DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT SLAMMER HE IS DEFINATELY MISSED IN THESE NOTES, DID YOU WALK TO 20TH ME MARKER? WHEN I WAS THERE ON AUG 13, I NOTICED A LOT OF COINS BY THE MONUMENT, IT IS THE ONLY MARKER I SAW WITH THE COINS, I ALSO VIVSITED FREDBURG, SPOTTYVANI WILDNERNESS, APPOMATT , CEDER CREEK, (SP) AND LOT OF OTHERS, NO WHERE DID I SEE THE COINS. 	Hi Dave, Sorry I didn't reply earlier but its very busy overhere. O.K., let's go back in memory to the most beautiful vacation I had in my life. As I told you, it was great! Gettysburg was very impressive but touristic. When we visited Antietam just after it that was such a different. But, how can a explain the feeling that went through me when I stood at the Lee Statue and looked over the rolling fields of Pickett's charge. When you live here in the Netherlands and like me have read so much on the ACW, sort of a homecoming for me. I was amazed about the total of original guns that were still standing there. Looks like they brought all the guns back to the battlefield. We did the auto tape tour and it was a very good way to show the field and explain the story to my wife. I don't remember the coins at the 20th ME marker but that 'll be my fault. I've seen so much overthere. I was amazed of the natural suroundings of Gettysburg. So much hills and on the south side of the field was the rocky terrain impressive. How could those men stormed those heights without loosing order? Must've been very difficult for the officers. Yes, I've bought a painting. Not one from a great artist cause it took a lot of money and I've spent most of the money on books which are so different to get here in Holland. Got something to read no, again. The Slammer is doing well, we've been in a reenactment and that was raelly the highlight of the visit. Me in a real ACW uniform standing in the line of duty, that sure was a kick. As soon as I get the change I'll write some more, greetings and keep your powder dry, Jean-Gerard
