| | Are tapes and tape libraries still unsupported on TruCluster ASE,
including any version that is currently in FT?

| | Hi,

Tape support is forcasted for ASE 1.5 (This summer). Be aware that only
TZ88 and TZ89 will be supported at the beginning. Requests for TZ87
have been directed to Engineering in the Berlin Unix Symposium. The
Jukebox version of these devices will also be supported.

Warning!!! The primary use of the "tape service" is for the Highly
Available NetWorker Server. Tar, cpio, vdump or other utilities will
NOT be modified to support tape repositionning after a bus or device
reset. Only NetWorker will "reposition" the tape after a bus reset.

Remember that a shared tape can receive a bus reset when the "other"
system of the cluster is simply booting.

    Manu.
